Editorial Policy

How we research, write, review, update and correct what we publish.

Last updated

This page describes how Striped Cat Studio decides what to publish, how articles are researched and checked, and how we handle updates and mistakes. It applies to everything on the site.

Who writes here

Articles are written by the 3 people listed on our authors page, each under their own name with a bio and background. We do not publish under invented names, and author bios describe real experience. Where an article has been checked by someone with specific expertise, it says so under the byline.

How articles are researched

We write about Illustration, Hand Lettering, Stationery, Paper Crafts, Pattern Design, Art Business and Wall Art from first-hand experience wherever possible: things we have cooked, bought, tested, used or lived with. Where we rely on other sources, we link to them, prefer primary sources (official data, manufacturers’ specifications, peer-reviewed research) and list them at the end of the article. We do not copy or spin articles from other sites.

Reviews and recommendations

When we review or recommend products, we say how we tested them and for how long. Ratings and verdicts are the author’s own, and brands cannot buy a rating, a verdict or a position in a comparison.

Accuracy, updates and corrections

Every article shows when it was published and, when it has been materially changed, when it was last updated. We re-check evergreen articles periodically and update prices, specifications and advice that has changed.

If you spot an error, email hello@stripedcatstudio.com. We correct factual errors promptly and note significant corrections in the article.

Use of AI tools

We use AI tools in the way we use spellcheckers and search engines: for research, outlining and copy-editing. Every published article is written, checked and edited by a named person who stands behind it. We do not publish unedited machine-generated text.

Independence

Commercial relationships never decide what we cover or what we conclude. Where one applies to an article, the article says so at the top.
