Dog Stalking: Behind The Scenes

Dog Stalking: Behind The Scenes

If you haven’t already guessed just by the mere existence of this column, going out to watch dogs playing is my idea of a great weekend. My usually haunts include main streets and outdoor malls, but in Atlanta, Piedmont Park’s Large Dog Park is my favorite place to dog stalk. I’ve spent weeks looking forward to watching the doggie action, and when we finally made it to the park on Tuesday afternoon, the pooches and their owners did not disappoint. My new camera snapped so many great action shots, I thought I’d share a few instead of getting straight to painting this week!

Don’t worry–it’s all fun here! I haven’t seen anyone get hurt, even when the dogs look rough. In fact, everyone is super friendly–one black mutt dutifully left his playtime to greet every new dog that entered the park.

Check back next week (and for many weeks to come, probably) to see what I do when I put these photos onto watercolor paper!

Love the doggie pics. I have sooooo many of my own 3 dogs. In a big park like that dogs will simply get along and play!

You’re lucky! I can’t have a dog because of the Striped Cat…thus, I’m the creepy girl hanging out at the dog park with no dog!
