I have a Sunday afternoon hobby–my mom calls it “dog stalking.” I could explain the term, but she coined a pretty accurate phrase: I go places where one might be likely to encounter dogs in the hopes of petting them. You may think this is a strange activity, especially for the person responsible for Striped Cat Studio, but we’re all allowed our vices and dog stalking is mine. Thus, I’m very excited to introduce a new column which gives me a perfectly good excuse to spend my time running after other people’s dogs. The aptly named “Dog Stalking” will be a dog-centric weekly combination of watercolor illustration and graphic design profiling a dog I met recently. Illustration, type design, and dogs–it’s like my own personal heaven.
This week’s k9 duo are a Labradoodle and Cavalier King Charlies Spaniel named Timmy and Phil. They’re best friends, who love licking my hand.
